The library offers a selection called Special Collections, which holds materials written by Bahamians, about Bahamian lifestyles and The Bahamas in general. Items from this collection must be used only within the library.

  1. Information about all Bahamian materials held in our collections are included in the OPAC (include hyperlink). When reviewing your results in the OPAC there is a box to the right which allows you to filter your results to only materials in Special Collections.

  2. The Caribbean Search database on EBSCOHost is a good source for articles about the Bahamas. A quick search using the keyword "Bahamas" resulted in over 11,000 results. The International Journal of Bahamian Studies is indexed in Caribbean Search as is the Journal of the Bahamas Historical Society. Also included is a wide variety of useful books, such as Bahamian Society After Emancipation. Don't overlook this valuable resource.

  3. Search for books about Bahamian and Caribbean history in the EBSCO eBooks collection. Most currently published academic works on Bahamian history can be found there.
